‘2016’s most talked-about new thriller’ Stylist

‘Meticulously crafted and razor-sharp. THE COUPLE NEXT DOOR lingers long after you turn the final page’ HARLAN COBEN

Fast-paced and addictive, THE COUPLE NEXT DOOR announces a major new talent in thriller writing.

You never know what’s happening on the other side of the wall.

Your neighbour told you that she didn’t want your six-month-old daughter at the dinner party. Nothing personal, she just couldn’t stand her crying.

Your husband said it would be fine. After all, you only live next door. You’ll have the baby monitor and you’ll take it in turns to go back every half hour.

Your daughter was sleeping when you checked on her last. But now, as you race up the stairs in your deathly quiet house, your worst fears are realized. She’s gone.

You’ve never had to call the police before. But now they’re in your home, and who knows what they’ll find there.

What would you be capable of, when pushed past your limit?

‘How well do we ever know those around us? THE COUPLE NEXT DOOR will keep you glued to the pages in search of the answer. Even then, you’ll never guess the truth…until it’s too late’ LISA GARDNER

MY THOUGHTS:

I decided to read this book after another author of crime and thriller recommended Shari Lapena in her group. And I’m really glad I decided to give it a try. I may have found another favorite thriller author.

I was very intrigued by the premise and the way this book is written. At first it felt a bit odd, but then I realized that it worked quite well. What I like the most about this story is that it is something that doesn’t seem too far-fetched. The plot moves along in a fast way and, although it may seem predictable at times, don’t trust all you see. You may get whiplash. The style is easy to follow and quite realistic. We are reading here about normal people with normal problems, so it is easy to feel identified with their actions.

It’s a book that will make you keep guessing all the time, right until the very end. The author subtly leads you through a path of discovery, leaving breadcrumbs here and there, only noticeable after you get to the revelations. Twists and turns that make this book almost impossible to put down. I read it in a couple of days, even losing sleep time because I had to read one more chapter, or because I needed to get to the end.

If you love good psychological thrillers, don’t miss this one. Highly recommended.

So, for all of that, I give this book… 5 TEA CUPS!
